It was at a 80th birthday party in 2015 where Frank came to re-meet his wife's Godfather. Dr. Veech, was actually a world class biochemical researcher who had been studying ketones for decades and ultimately landing on a novel (salt-free, non-racemic) Ketone Mono-Ester. The same drink Dave Asprey, CEO of Bulletproof, paid $30,000 for one 2oz serving (made by an independent lab). This incredible scientist has spent his life researching the potential of ketones as a far superior source of fuel for the human body compared to ordinary carbohydrate fuel alone.

His theories were proved to be valid after a 5 year, $10,000,000 study funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), designed to identify the most powerful source of energy for special operations soldiers on very physically and cognitively challenging multi-day missions.

Dr. Veech went on to explain to Frank that Ketones, under the right conditions, were like 110 octane racing fuel, compared to 93 octane “high test” gasoline. Clinical trials have shown measurable performance gains, even breaking records.

Sensing a once in a lifetime opportunity, Frank, immediately wondered why then, eight years after the DARPA trials had finished, had a product not been brought to market?

Frank has a unique ability to find a path where others have failed. He knew this could be the perfect challenge for his unique skill set. With his extensive Rolodex he turned to his friend, Steve Zarpas, with a background in biochemistry, for assistance with the very extensive list of scholarly papers written by the biochemist about "complicated ketones."

It quickly became apparent to Steve, that this particular ketone-ester was absolutely fantastic.

According to Dr. Veech, the first roadblock to bringing the product to market was finding a commercial laboratory able to actually make the Ketone Mono Ester at scale and under $100 a serving. Frank and Steve were warned in advance that multiple commercial laboratories over the last ten years had tried and failed to deliver the Ketone Mono-Ester at an acceptable purity level despite his guidance.

Within six months Frank and Steve contacted hundreds of labs to find the perfect partner lab. Working together as a team, they succeeded in making small batches of the purest Ketone Mono-Ester ever tested.

KetoneAid is relentless in continuing their R&D. Continuously identifying new techniques to further reduce costs to make a viable consumer product. Significant breakthroughs in production methods and costs reduction techniques have been identified. Pilot level production, using a new, streamlined process, should begin in 2017.
