FOCUS
Mental fatigue slows you down.
Ke4 blocked the slowdown.
After 20 minutes of hard mental work, people on placebo were 9% slower at switching between tasks. On Ke4, their speed held. With caffeine, they got faster.
Roca, Barker & Waldman, J Strength Cond Res, 2026. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover in 25 healthy adults (20 men, 5 women). Ke4 at 200 mg per kg body weight, taken 30 minutes before a 20-minute mental-fatigue task. Group means; perceived fatigue rose in every condition. The caffeine arm (Ke4 + 200 mg caffeine) started from a slower baseline; the study had no caffeine-only arm. Laboratory task-switching, not a pickleball performance test.

Play today. Play tomorrow.
Take VKE after you play and again before bed.
In athletes, that routine after a strenuous day improved sleep efficiency and counteracted the usual drop in REM sleep. Tomorrow’s game starts tonight.
“I play Basketball 4 straight days per week 2-3 hours per session” … “And by the way I am 72 years old!”

“I’ve also used Ke4 before tennis matches when I needed a boost of energy and have found it to work well.”

Same molecule. Pick your potency.
Concentration decides taste.
Strong, bitter and most compact. Not “better”, just less water.
Three times the water of Ke4 at the same price per gram. We named the flavour “Not Bad” and meant it.
Ready to drink, nothing to measure. The easiest way to find out what this actually feels like.

What’s actually been measured.
No VKE study has tested pickleball. These are the studies we lean on, and how far each one stretches.
Mental fatigue: placebo 9% slower. Ke4, no slowdown.
ROCA, BARKER & WALDMAN 2026 · J STRENGTH COND RES · LAB
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
ROCA, BARKER & WALDMAN 2026 · J STRENGTH COND RES · LAB
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: 25 healthy adults (20 men, 5 women), randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover. Ke4 at 200 mg/kg, 30 minutes before a 20-minute mental-fatigue task; a third arm added 200 mg caffeine.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Task-switching, group means before → after. Ke4: 957 → 922 ms. Placebo: 956 → 1,041 ms. Ke4 + caffeine: 993 → 864 ms.
- The Ke4-vs-placebo difference favored Ke4; Ke4’s own change was not statistically significant.
- Perceived fatigue rose in every condition.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Staying quick when your head is tired.
- The caffeine arm started from a slower baseline and there was no caffeine-only arm, so the study can’t say what Ke4 added to caffeine.
CONTEXT: a laboratory task, not a court. PubMed · PMID 42429835 →
Stop-start running: multitasking errors +1.8 on carbs, 0.0 with Ke4.
EVANS & EGAN 2018 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC · TEAM-SPORT ATHLETES
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
EVANS & EGAN 2018 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC · TEAM-SPORT ATHLETES
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: 11 male team-sport athletes, randomized, double-blind crossover. Five 15-minute blocks of intermittent shuttle running, then a shuttle run to exhaustion. A 6.4% carbohydrate drink alone, or with Ke4 providing 750 mg of ketone ester per kg of body weight.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Multitasking errors after exhausting exercise: +1.8 with carbohydrate alone, 0.0 with Ke4 added (p = 0.017).
- Reaction time, sustained attention, sprint times and run time to exhaustion did not differ.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Stop-start effort is the closest thing in the research to a session of pickleball.
CONTEXT: shuttle running, not a racket sport; Ke4 was taken with carbohydrate. PubMed · PMID 29944604 →
After a strenuous day: sleep efficiency improved, REM drop counteracted.
ROBBERECHTS ET AL. 2023 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC · ENDURANCE ATHLETES
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
ROBBERECHTS ET AL. 2023 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC · ENDURANCE ATHLETES
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: Endurance athletes; ketone ester after strenuous exercise and before sleep, versus placebo.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The hard day raised time awake after falling asleep by 95% versus a rest day. Ketone ester counteracted that increase and the usual decline in REM sleep.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Next-day play starts with the night before.
- The 95% describes the exercise-induced problem, not a 95% sleep improvement.
CONTEXT: a controlled hard day in endurance athletes, not a tournament weekend. PubMed · PMID 37259248 →
Eight weeks: about 4% more power than placebo.
ROBBERECHTS ET AL. 2026 · J PHYSIOL · TRAINED CYCLISTS
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
ROBBERECHTS ET AL. 2026 · J PHYSIOL · TRAINED CYCLISTS
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: 28 trained men were enrolled in eight weeks of supervised endurance training; ketone ester or placebo after each session and 30 minutes before bed.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Final 30-minute time-trial power: 302 versus 291 W.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Consistency across a training block, not one serving.
CONTEXT: cycling. It supports the routine; it doesn’t predict results on court. PubMed · PMID 41757674 →
Sore muscles: no faster recovery.
MARTIN-ARROWSMITH ET AL. 2020 · FRONT NUTR · ECCENTRIC EXERCISE
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
MARTIN-ARROWSMITH ET AL. 2020 · FRONT NUTR · ECCENTRIC EXERCISE
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: Muscle-damaging eccentric exercise; ketone monoester versus energy-matched carbohydrate.
WHAT HAPPENED
- No faster recovery of soreness, jump performance or isometric strength.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Recovery isn’t one outcome. The sleep result stands; sore-muscle repair isn’t claimed.
CONTEXT: VKE isn’t a soreness product. PubMed · PMID 33364251 →
Same molecule, different protocol: ~50% more glycogen in one setup, no difference in another.
HOLDSWORTH ET AL. 2017 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC + VANDOORNE ET AL. 2017 · FRONT PHYSIOL
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +
HOLDSWORTH ET AL. 2017 · MED SCI SPORTS EXERC + VANDOORNE ET AL. 2017 · FRONT PHYSIOL
PROTOCOL + DETAILS +PROTOCOL: Both gave ketone ester after exercise. Holdsworth held glucose and insulin high with a 2-hour clamp. Vandoorne used a standard protein-and-carbohydrate recovery drink.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Clamp: muscle glycogen 246 vs 164 mmol/kg dry weight.
- Recovery drink: no glycogen difference; higher mTORC1 signaling.
WHY IT MATTERS
- Proper results depend on proper use. That’s why the protocol matters.
CONTEXT: the clamp is a lab condition, not a meal. PubMed · PMID 28398950 → · PMID 28588499 →
Where we draw the line.
No study has measured pickleball accuracy, court reactions, wins or technique, and we don’t claim them. Customer reviews are experiences, not measured results.
DIFFERENT KETONES,
DIFFERENT RESULTS.
These studies tested Veech Ketone Ester: the molecule in Ketone Shot, Ke2 and Ke4.
Other ketones do not inherit these results just because they raise a ketone reading.

Comes Close
Before you step on.
When do I take it?
Take it before you play, following the product-specific amounts and timing in our protocols. First try it during a familiar practice session.
Which one should I start with?
Ketone Shot is the simplest first try and fits a court bag. Ke2 is more diluted than Ke4 and easier to drink. Ke4 packs the most VKE into the least liquid, with the strongest taste. All three are the same molecule.
Can I take it with my coffee?
The mental-fatigue study also tested ketone ester with 200 mg caffeine. That group improved from its own baseline, but there was no caffeine-only arm, so it cannot say what the ester added. We recommend trying VKE on its own first. Some users report jitters, a crash and sleep disruption when combining it with caffeine.
I’m sore for two days after a tournament. Will this help?
The measured result is sleep, not soreness. A study of muscle-damaging exercise found no faster recovery of soreness with ketone ester. Players use it for the night after a hard day.
Should I eat before I play?
Take VKE on an empty stomach, following the product-specific amounts and timing in our protocols. In a study of this ketone ester, a meal beforehand lowered peak blood ketone levels by about a third (Stubbs et al. 2017).
Do I need to be keto?
No. You can use VKE while eating carbohydrates. No ketogenic diet, no fasting.
Is this a supplement?
No. Veech Ketone Ester is a food, not a dietary supplement. It provides D-BHB, the same ketone your own liver makes, rapidly and as an additional fuel.
Is it allowed in competition?
All KetoneAid products are 3rd-party batch tested for WADA-prohibited substances. Check your event or federation’s current rules and the relevant batch documentation before competing.
What does it taste like?
Ke4 has a strong, bitter taste. Ke2 is more diluted; Ketone Shot is the easiest first try. Chill it and follow the product directions. More ≠ better.
What if it isn’t for me?
