MORE REM SLEEP
REM sleep increased from 93 to 117 minutes versus the same hard training day without VKE.

Veech Ketone Ester has been shown in human research to improve sleep efficiency, restore REM sleep and reduce nighttime wakefulness after strenuous exercise.
The human sleep research so far was done after strenuous exercise — a setting designed to disrupt sleep. In trained cyclists, VKE restored much of the REM sleep lost to the training day, reduced nighttime wakefulness and increased total sleep time.
When the day takes more out of you, the night matters more.
The quick read: after the same hard training day, VKE brought sleep much closer to the athletes' normal resting night.

The headline isn't “3%.” It means more of the same night was actually spent asleep. The hard training day cut REM by 26% and increased wakefulness after sleep onset by 95%; VKE moved both back toward the resting night.

Hard exercise can leave you exhausted while still disrupting the sleep that follows.
In the controlled VKE sleep study the athletes completed morning endurance training plus late-evening HIIT ending only one hour before bed. Against a resting night, that training day reduced REM sleep by 26% and increased wakefulness after sleep onset by 95%.
They were tired. Their sleep still got worse.
The problem wasn't getting tired enough. It was what the training day did to sleep afterward.
Sleep sits between today's stimulus and tomorrow's ability to train again.
If hard training repeats, the recovery window repeats too.
ADDITIONAL VO2PEAK IMPROVEMENT
30-MINUTE TIME-TRIAL PERFORMANCE
In a separate eight-week human study, athletes repeatedly used VKE in the post-training and pre-bed recovery window. The VKE group developed greater endurance adaptations than training alone.

When one hard session — or more than one — leaves recovery competing with bedtime.
When a hard session finishes close to bedtime.
When tomorrow starts before today feels fully finished.
When sleep sits between one hard day and the next.
For everyday sleep use, a little goes a long way — only 1–5g VKE. Start at the low end and use only what you need.
~1g VKE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE BED
If you're already in ketosis or used a larger VKE amount earlier in the day, you may not need a separate bedtime dose.
This is intentionally different from the large research and elite-athlete recovery doses. The goal here is sleep, not reproducing a high-dose research recovery protocol.
Less concentrated tastes better.
One controlled sleep study, plus repeated-use training evidence. Open either for the study setup, the numbers and the context.

10 trained cyclists · randomized crossover · polysomnography
PROTOCOL Ten trained cyclists completed morning endurance work and evening HIIT ending one hour before bedtime. They received 25g of VKE after exercise and a further 25g thirty minutes before bed, or placebo. Sleep was measured with polysomnography.
CONTEXT: Ten trained cyclists and a deliberately disruptive exercise protocol. This is about protecting sleep after hard training. VKE is a food, not a sleep aid. STUDY DOSING: The research used much larger athlete doses than our everyday sleep guidance. We find more is not better for sleep, and too much can keep you up. Exact study dosing is shown above; our consumer recommendation is much smaller. PMID 37259248 — PubMed

28 trained males · eight-week training study
PROTOCOL Twenty-eight trained males completed eight weeks of supervised cycling. Fourteen received 25g of VKE immediately after each session and again before sleep; fourteen received an isocaloric placebo.
CONTEXT: This was an adaptation study, not a sleep study. Sleep was not the outcome measured, and nothing here shows that improved sleep caused the training adaptations. Its relevance on this page is that post-training plus pre-bed VKE was used repeatedly across eight weeks. Trained males only, 14 per group. Journal of Physiology, doi 10.1113/JP290315.
Veech Ketone Ester is a food, not a drug or a dietary supplement. Nothing on this page is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and nothing here is medical advice. The sleep research described here studied sleep in trained athletes after strenuous exercise. VKE is a food, not a sleep aid, and is not intended to treat any condition. Our Veech Ketone Ester molecule is manufactured in the United States.
Human research says it can improve sleep quality when sleep is under stress.
In trained cyclists, VKE restored much of the REM sleep lost to the training day, reduced nighttime wakefulness and increased total sleep time.
The studies on this page were done after hard training — that's where the direct human evidence currently comes from. That is what was measured, and it is not a treatment claim.
Start small.
Only 1–5g VKE. A good starting point is about 1g immediately before bed — half a capful of Ke4, one capful of Ke2, or a quarter bottle of Ketone Shot. Use only what you need.
If you're already in ketosis or used a larger amount earlier in the day, you may not need a separate bedtime dose.
The study was designed around a deliberately punishing athlete training day and used large research doses after exercise and again before bed.
That answers a research question. It is not our default consumer sleep recommendation. For everyday sleep use, we recommend starting much smaller.
Because being exhausted and being physiologically ready for sleep are not the same thing.
In the controlled study, a morning endurance session plus late-evening HIIT ending one hour before bed reduced REM sleep by 26% and increased wakefulness after sleep onset by 95%.
VKE taken after exercise and again before bed helped counteract both effects.
This was studied in trained cyclists after strenuous exercise. It is not a claim about sleep problems with other causes, and VKE is a food, not a sleep aid.
Yes. Repeated pre-bed VKE use has been studied across an eight-week human training block in trained men. Use the amount that fits your goal rather than assuming more is better.
All three contain the same Veech Ketone Ester at different concentrations.
Ke2 is easy to meter in small bedtime amounts. Ke4 is the most concentrated. The Ketone Shot contains 5g VKE in a ready-to-drink bottle.
For sleep, the amount matters more than the format.
