VKE reduced fasting protein oxidation during calorie restriction.
Fasting protein oxidation fell about 34% in the VKE group.
This is protein oxidation, not a direct measure of muscle loss.

When calories are down but the work still has to get done, Veech Ketone Ester gives you another high-energy fuel without requiring a full meal.
In a four-week human study at a 30% calorie deficit, VKE helped preserve exercise capacity and lean-mass-adjusted resting energy expenditure while reducing fasting protein oxidation.

Hiroux et al. 2023 · four weeksSEE STUDYTime-to-exhaustion declined on placebo but was maintained with VKE.
It declined in the placebo and higher-protein groups but was preserved in the VKE group.
A calorie deficit reduces the energy coming in, but your training still requires fuel. Protein remains important for preserving muscle. Resistance training remains important for giving the body a reason to retain it.
VKE does a different job: it supplies another oxidizable fuel and, in a controlled four-week 30% calorie-deficit study, helped maintain exercise capacity that declined in the placebo group.
Keep the deficit. Keep the training signal. Add fuel where it matters.
You don't use VKE to erase the deficit.
You use it to perform better inside it.
A calorie deficit shouldn't automatically mean accepting worse training quality.
Energy expenditure commonly falls during a calorie deficit — often called metabolic adaptation, or metabolic slowdown. In the controlled VKE study, lean-mass-adjusted resting energy expenditure was preserved with VKE while it declined in the other groups.
Fasting protein oxidation fell about 34% in the VKE group.
VKE gives you another high-energy fuel for the work — without turning the calorie deficit into another full meal.
In human testing, a meal reduced peak D-BHB after VKE by about 33%. If you want the highest peak D-BHB response, VKE generally works best away from a meal.
33% LOWER PEAK D-BHB AFTER FOOD
STUBBS ET AL. 2017 · PMID 29163194
When total energy availability is deliberately lower, the work still demands fuel.
VKE rapidly raises D-BHB, giving your body another high-energy fuel while you stay inside the calorie deficit you've chosen.
The deficit stays. You just have another fuel source to work with.
Keep training quality up while calories are deliberately lower.
Fuel demanding work without adding a large meal.
Another fuel source when your calorie budget is already tight.
When you're deliberately running a deficit but still expect to perform.
Less concentrated tastes better.

32 female recreational athletes · four weeks · fully provided diet
PROTOCOL Double-blind trial at KU Leuven. 32 recreationally active women, four weeks at roughly a 30% calorie deficit with all food provided. Randomized to 3 × 20g per day of VKE, a higher-protein comparator at about 2.0–2.2g per kg per day, or an isocaloric placebo. Blood beta-hydroxybutyrate reached about 2.5 mM an hour after each dose.
CONTEXT: Measured muscle mass still declined in the VKE group; the higher-protein arm was the group that preserved it. The −34% figure is fasting protein oxidation, not 34% less muscle breakdown or muscle loss. This was four weeks in young recreationally active women. PMID 36714318 — PubMed
Veech Ketone Ester is a food, not a drug or a dietary supplement. Nothing on this page is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and nothing here is medical advice. VKE is not a weight-loss product, an appetite suppressant or a fat burner. Our Veech Ketone Ester molecule is manufactured in the United States.
VKE can support the muscle-preservation side of a calorie deficit, but the evidence needs to be stated precisely.
In the controlled calorie-deficit trial, VKE preserved exercise capacity and lean-mass-adjusted resting energy expenditure and reduced fasting protein oxidation — but measured muscle mass itself still declined. The higher-protein group preserved measured muscle mass.
Separate human research also found that VKE directly stimulates myofibrillar muscle protein synthesis.
Protein supplies amino acids. Resistance training supplies the signal. VKE supplies fuel and has separate human evidence for muscle protein synthesis.
Because eating fewer calories doesn't mean you want your performance to fall with them.
VKE provides a concentrated fuel source that rapidly raises D-BHB without requiring a large meal.
No. They do different jobs.
Protein supplies amino acids. VKE supplies fuel.
For the highest peak D-BHB response, generally use VKE away from a meal. Human testing found a meal reduced peak D-BHB by about 33%.
Yes. Many KetoneAid customers make VKE part of their daily routine.
Human research has included repeated daily dosing, including 26.8g three times daily for 28 days in healthy adults with good tolerability.
You don't need research-study doses to use VKE consistently. Use the amount that fits the job.
It can.
As body weight and energy intake fall, energy expenditure commonly falls too. Part of that is expected simply from carrying less body mass, and part can reflect metabolic adaptation.
In the four-week VKE study, lean-mass-adjusted resting energy expenditure declined in the placebo and higher-protein groups but was preserved in the VKE group.
That doesn't mean VKE has been shown to permanently prevent metabolic adaptation, or to boost metabolism. It held up better over four weeks under a controlled deficit.
That's one of the closest direct human use cases we have.
In a four-week controlled study, recreational female athletes ate about 30% below maintenance. Time to exhaustion declined in the placebo group but was maintained in the VKE group.
That doesn't mean VKE eliminates fatigue or makes calorie restriction consequence-free. It means training performance held up better under the tested calorie deficit.
All three are the same Veech Ketone Ester at different dilutions, so the choice is about concentration, taste and how you want to dose.
Ke4 is 50% and carries 30g per bottle — the most ester in the fewest bottles, and the most potent taste. Ke2 is 25% with 25g per bottle: three times the water of Ke4 at the same cost per gram, and easier to get down. The Ketone Shot is 8% with 5g per bottle, ready to drink with nothing to measure.
If you have never had the molecule before, the Shot is the lowest-commitment way to find out what it's like.
